    Hi,

It would be nice if this webpage had a ‘Contact Us’ link so people can email or otherwise make anonymous suggestions to the Cafe administrators.

I just purchased a personal pizza at the Bay View Cafe and it was very bad. I couldn’t finish a single 2″ slice. The dough on the top layer of the pizza was raw and uncooked and sat underneath a flavorless, leathery cheese which had been overcooked. The pizza taste like it came out of freeze-dry and the dough seemed saturated with sugar and reeked of an excess of rising yeast. To top it off, the pizza was served at room temperature. May I suggest that you offer people samples at the pizza bar and asking what they think? Have you tried it yourself? I was really surprised with all the fuss the Epicurean website makes about fresh, high-quality food because I don’t know how this pizza got past your menu approvers–I’m sorry to be harsh, but it is worse than any cafeteria pizza I’ve had.

I make pizza at home all the time, from scratch, using organic and sustainable ingredients. Besides the dough-rising it doesn’t take that long and it’s not that hard. It’s also cheap as dirt.

Pizza sauce is more than just pureed tomatoes–a good sauce is 3-dimensional (e.g chunks of original ingredients) and is a blend of tomatoes, salt, pepper, spices, and fresh garlic and/or onions. Pizza dough should be light and fluffy, and should have a thin, crispy layer on the outside. It should not taste or smell of sugar/yeast. It needs to be cooked at high temperatures (> 500F) for very short periods of time, not low temperatures for long periods of time.

If you want to sell this pizza, I suggest that you dramatically lower the price. I mean no disrespect but if I’m paying $4.50 for a personal pizza I expect it to be bordering gourmet. I would like to get my money refunded if at all possible.
